Mumbai: Actress Sonakshi Sinha, who is excited about her film Jatadhara, has revisited memories of her acclaimed 2013 drama Lootera. The actress revealed that although the film is now considered one of her finest performances, many people around her initially advised her not to sign it due to concerns about its commercial viability.
At the time, Lootera was only her third or fourth project after the massive success of Dabangg. “A lot of people told me, ‘Don’t do this film,’” Sonakshi recalled in an interview with IANS. “But I saw myself in Paakhi. I trusted my instincts and said, ‘No matter what happens, I’m doing this film.’ And I’m so glad I did.”

Even 12 years after its release, Lootera continues to earn her praise from fans. “It amazes me how people still come up and say, ‘We loved you in Lootera.’ It’s an incredible feeling, and I’m grateful the film still resonates. It remains one of my most cherished experiences.”
Sonakshi also spoke about her intense preparation for Jatadhara, where she plays Dhan Pisachani, a mystical yet fearsome supernatural being. Producer Prerna Arora revealed that the actress’s look and character required over three months of research and design to blend mythological elements with striking visual power.

Directed by Venkat Kalyan and Abhishek Jaiswal, Jatadhara is a mythological-supernatural thriller revolving around an ancient treasure guarded by dark forces. The film stars Sudheer Babu, Shilpa Shirodkar, and Sonakshi in a pivotal role as an enigmatic pishachini—drawing a man into a dangerous world of rituals, greed, and redemption.
Produced by Umesh KR Bansal, Prerna Arora, Aruna Agarwal, and Shivin Narang of Zed Studios and co-produced by Akshay Kejriwal and Kussum Arora, the film released in Hindi and Telugu on November 7, 2025.
